Solving Continuous Linear Least-Squares Problems by Iterated Projection

I present a new divide-and-conquer algorithm for solving continuous linear least-squares problems. The method is applicable when the column space of the linear system relating data to model parameters is “translation invariant”. The central operation is a matrixvector product, which makes the method very easy to implement. Secondly, the structure of the computation suggests a straightforward pa...

Solving Large Linear Inverse Problems in Geophysics by means of Eigenvalue Calculations

This paper discusses the computation and utilization of singular values and singular vectors in the solution of very large inverse problems that arise in the study of physical models for the internal structure of the Earth. In this study, the Earth is discretized into layers and the layers into cells, and travel times of sound waves generated by earthquakes are used to construct the models. The...

One Network to Solve Them All - Solving Linear Inverse Problems Using Deep Projection Models

While deep learning methods have achieved state-of-theart performance in many challenging inverse problems like image inpainting and super-resolution, they invariably involve problem-specific training of the networks. Under this approach, each inverse problem requires its own dedicated network. In scenarios where we need to solve a wide variety of problems, e.g., on a mobile camera, it is ineff...

One Network to Solve Them All — Solving Linear Inverse Problems using Deep Projection Models

We now describe the architecture of the networks used in the paper. We use exponential linear unit (elu) [1] as activation function. We also use virtual batch normalization [6], where the reference batch size bref is equal to the batch size used for stochastic gradient descent. We weight the reference batch with bref bref+1 . We define some shorthands for the basic components used in the networks.

Ill-Posed and Linear Inverse Problems

In this paper ill-posed linear inverse problems that arises in many applications is considered. The instability of special kind of these problems and it's relation to the kernel, is described. For finding a stable solution to these problems we need some kind of regularization that is presented. The results have been applied for a singular equation.
